Marjorie Mae Dumler, 89, of Russell, Kansas, died on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the Riverview Estates in Marquette, Kansas.

Marjorie was born on July 4, 1924, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of John and Cecil M. (Davis) Pope.  Moving to Russell when she was a toddler, she attended Russell schools, graduating from Russell High School in 1942.  She was united in marriage to Dean W. Dumler on May 23, 1942 in Great Bend, Kansas.  From this union they were blessed with four daughters, Judy, Cindy, Betha and Christy.  Marjorie was the bookkeeper for Dumler Brothers’ Livestock for many years.  Later, Marjorie and Dean owned and operated Dumler’s Antiques and Depression Glass.  However, her full time and favorite job was being wife, mother and homemaker for her family.  She was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Russell,  a charter member of the V.F.W. Post 6240 Auxiliary, Russell ESU Sorority, and long time bowler on the Ladies’ Coffee Time League.  Marjorie was a very artistic person who enjoyed playing guitar and singing, crocheting, painting and raising and showing English Bulldogs.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Surviving family include her daughters Judy Knepp and husband Ron of Augusta, Kansas, Cindy Pitcock of Russell, Betha Howard of Hays and Christy Young and husband Kirk of Marquette, Kansas; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Dean on June 17, 1980, and two grandchildren Scott Pitcock and Teresa Knepp.

A memorial service to celebrate Marjorie’s life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, January 03, 2014, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating.  Cremation has been selected by the family.  Inurnment of the ashes will take place at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Russell, immediately follow the memorial service at the mortuary.  Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. on Thursday, January 02, 2014, at the mortuary.   The family will greet guests from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. Friday morning before the memorial service.  Memorials may be given to the Russell V.F.W. Post 6240 or to the Riverview Estates and sent in care of the mortuary.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the memorial service arrangements.
