Dorothia Frances Anderson, 100, of Bunker Hill, Kansas, died on Friday, January 10, 2014, at the Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell, Kansas.
Dorothia was born on July 27, 1913 in Bunker Hill, Kansas, the daughter of William and Claudie (Hatton) Moore. She grew up in the Bunker Hill area and graduated from Bunker Hill High School. She was married to Harley E. Reis and from this union they were blessed with a son Patrick. Harley preceded Dorothia in death in 1971. Later she was united in marriage to William Anderson who also preceded her in death in 1981. Dorothia worked as a full time homemaker and at one time for many years she worked for the Bunker Hill Grocery Store. She was a member of the Bunker Hill United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking and baking. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Surviving family include her son Patrick Reiss of Bunker Hill, Kansas, stepchildren Kay Stearns Connie Wolfe, Sue Combs and Donny Anderson of and 6 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Harley and William, a brother and 3 sisters.
A celebration of Dorothia’s life will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas with Pastor Fred Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial will follow at the Bunker Hill Cemetery in Bunker Hill. Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. Monday, January 13, 2014, at the mortuary. Memorials may be given to the Bunker Hill Lions Club and sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
