Jolene Faye Nuss, 56, of Wilson, Kansas and former Russell resident died on Friday, February 14, 2014, at the Russell Regional Hospital.
Jolene was born on December 13, 1957, in Russell, Kansas, the daughter of Melvin and Lola (Davis) Nuss. She grew up in the Russell area and graduated from Russell High School in 1975. She lived in the Russell and Wilson areas her entire life. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, playing computer games, card games with friends, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune on TV and attending her grandson Kohle’s wrestling competitions. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her kids and grandkids and all of her friends. She also enjoyed taking her beloved dog, Jude, frogging at Wilson Lake.
She was survivied by her sons Steven Roy Nuss and wife Keri, grandson JoJo and step-grandsons Eason and Jakob of Linden, Tennessee and Jerome Bosch Nuss and grandson Kohle of Wilson, Kansas; Mother Lola Nuss of Russell; brothers Melbirn Nuss of Russell, Jeff Nuss and wife Joleen of Topeka and Jason Nuss and wife Crystal of Council Bluff, Iowa; sisters Rola Funk and husband Dave of Russell and Lori Hurst of Russell; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by father Melvin Nuss; grandparents Henry and Pauline (Strecker) Nuss, Earl and Esther Lindenmuth and maternal great-grandparents Peter and Melvina (Weirham) Bosch, and nephew Jerrod Dale Nuss.
A memorial service to celebrate Jolene’s life will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell with Pastor Jim Strasen officiating. Cremation has been selected by the family and inurnment of the cremains will take place at a later date. Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the mortuary with family present to greet guests from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. Tuesday evening. Memorials may be given to the Jolene Nuss Memorial Fund and sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
