Terry R. Cowley, 51, of Natoma, Kansas, died on Thursday, April 03, 2014, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.

Terry was born on February 15, 1963, in Plainville, Kansas, the son of Joe Donald and Betty (Mohler) Cowley.  For a short while he lived in Costa Mesa, California but moved back to Plainville and graduated from Plainville High School in the class of 1982 where he was an avid cross country runner.  He married Michele Ward on June 29, 1985. They resided in Russell where he worked for King Of the Road. Their home was blessed with a daughter Meagan. They were divorced in 1994.  He met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Kathy S. “Kat” Starnes on December 28, 2001, in Las Vegas, Nevada.  He worked for Masters Oil, LLC in Natoma, primarily as a truck driver but was also counted on as being a “jack of all trades” and helping out wherever he was needed.  Terry had a passion for golf, playing horseshoes and being outside.  The one thing he was most passionate about was his Kansas University Jayhawk Basketball team.  He never missed a game and while watching his hawks play, he was often warned by Kat to “watch his blood pressure”!  Most of all he enjoyed spending quality time enjoying a beer with his friends and family.

Surviving family include his wife Kat, mother Betty Lawyer and husband Dan of Riverside, California; daughter Meagan Eiland of Hays, Kansas; brothers Mike Cowley of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, Pat Cowley of Florida and Tom Cowley of Telluride, Colorado; sister Donna Jackman and husband Bob of Endeavor, Wisconsin, Darla Jones and husband Terry of Plainville, Kansas and Suzanne Biscan of Norco, California and step mother Mariann Cowley of Plainville, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his father, brothers David Eilers and Danny Cowley and sister Debbie Silvertooth.

A celebration of Terry’s life will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, April 08, 2014, at the First Christian Church in Plainville, Kansas with Paula Hachmeister officiating.  Burial will follow at the Plainville Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M., Monday, April 07, 2014, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, with family present to greet guests from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. Monday evening.  Memorials may be given to the Terry Cowley Memorial Fund and sent in care of the mortuary.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
