Esther E. White, 88, of Russell, Kansas, past from this journey of her life on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the Russell Regional Hospital.
Esther was born on September 2, 1925 in Russell, the daughter of Gottfred and Eva (Ehrlich) Laubhan. She grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in 1943. She fell in love with and married Raymond J. Tague on February 6, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, while Raymond was serving in the U.S. Navy. From this union was born 2 children, Karl Raymond and Lucinda Rae. Raymond passed in 1977 and later Esther was fortunate to find love a second time and was united in marriage to Dr. Fagan White on December 23, 1979.
Through the years, Esther was indeed, an earthly angel to many. She was involved in many Russell activities. She loved visiting her friends and acquaintances in hospitals and nursing homes and made this her passion. She also loved playing bingo at both the senior center and V.F.W. At 16 she went to work at Banker’s Mercantile in Russell and was a sales clerk for many years. She was a member of the Russell Regional Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, V.F.W. and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Russell and she also enjoyed attending services at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Russell and was a member of the Priscilla church circle as well as other various church groups. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and quilting. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She always was doing for others and giving of her time.
Esther is survived by her daughter Lucinda Ranabargar and husband Carl of Petrolia, Kansas; sisters Frances Wagner of Russell and Rozella Ruhl of Fallbrook, California; daughter in-law Sandy Tague of Ohio; stepsons Ward White and Danny White & wife Hilde; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, son Karl R. Tague, four brother, infant sister, and a stepson.
A celebration of Esther’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, May 07, 2014 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Russell, with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Russell. Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, May 06, 2014 at the mortuary with the family present from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. Tuesday evening. Memorials may be given to the Russell Hospital Auxiliary, St. John Lutheran Church or Trinity United Methodist Church both of Russell and sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
