Frances Ilene Kraft, 80, of Russell, Kansas, died on Sunday, April 27, 2014, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.
Frances was born on March 15, 1934, in Berwyn, Nebraska, the daughter of Louis and Ada (Pete) Fisher. She grew up in the Berwyn and Broken Bow, Nebraska areas and graduated from the Broken Bow High School in the class of 1952. After high school she attended the Kearney Teachers College in Nebraska. She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Herbert Kraft on August 25, 1954 in Ellsworth, Kansas. From this union Frances and Herbert were blessed with four children Cathy, Terrence, Cindy and Daniel. She worked fulltime as a wife, mother and homemaker for her family. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, writing poetry, cooking, collecting cook books, animals, photography and playing the piano and accordion. She was very proud that 2 of her poems had been published. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her many children and grandchildren.
Surviving family include her husband Herbert of the home, daughter Cathy Frazier of Salina, Kansas, son Terrence R. Kraft and wife Marcia of Dodge City, Kansas, daughter Cindy Brownback and husband Terry of Americus, Kansas and son Daniel Kraft and wife Tracy of Russell; 7 grandkids Ashley, Heather, Brandon, Kristopher, Stephanie, Jason and Dalton;
9 great grandkids and 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, 4 brothers and infant daughter and son.
A celebration of Frances’ life will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, May 02, 2014, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell with Pastor Earl Haggard officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Viewing and visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Thursday, May 01, 2014, at the mortuary with family present to greet guests from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. Thursday evening. Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association and sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
