William Allan “Bill” Rabas, 64, of Russell, Kansas passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014 from an automotive accident in Ellsworth County. Bill was born June 9, 1950 in Ellsworth, Kansas, the son of William and Marjorie D. (Shaffer) Rabas. He grew up in Luray, Kansas and graduated from Luray High School. He then attended and graduated from Beloit Vo-Tech School. Bill was united in marriage to Delores LaVonne Crawford on November 24, 1979 in Luray, Kansas. This union was blessed with two daughters; Sarah and Kimberly. They made their home in Russell, Kansas. Bill was a retired motor grader operator for Russell County Hwy Department. He ran Woody’s Wood Service and operated a motor grader for several other townships. He was a handy man for Don’s Plumbing, Heating and Air. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was an active member in the ISIS Shrine, ISIS Gridiron Club and the Russell Masonic Lodge #177, and a life member of the Russell Elks Lodge #1715. He enjoyed cutting firewood and lending a helping hand whenever and wherever possible. But most of all he loved picking on and playing with his grandchildren. Surviving family include his two daughters, Sarah Martin (Darin) of Claflin, Kansas and Kimberly Ryan (Michael) of Russell, Kansas; four grandchildren, Randall, Treiton, Aislee and Brenton. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Delores, and granddaughter Quinlee Martin. Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, September 26, 2014 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Russell. Burial will follow in the Wilson City Cemetery in Wilson, Kansas. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell with the family present to greet friends from 6 PM to 7 PM Thursday evening. A memorial has been established as an Educational Fund for the Grandkids . Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
