Pauline Elizabeth (Krug) Alksnis, 81 of Woodland, California and formerly of Russell, Kansas passed away November 9, 2014 at the Woodland Memorial Hospital in Woodland.

Pauline was born on January 16, 1933, at Russell , Kansas to Albert W. and Amalia (Reisig) Krug.  She attended Fossil Creek School through the 8th grade and then attended Russell High School , graduating in 1951.  She then completed a course at Brown Mackey School of Business.
 
She was employed as a secretary for the City of Russell for several years until she married the Rev. Gunnar Alksnis, pastor of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church , in 1957.  Shortly after their marriage they moved to Allentown , PA for four years.  Returning to Kansas they lived in Linn for several years before moving to Topeka where Gunnar taught history and theology at Washburn University for over thirty years. Pauline, among many things, was a Realtor, Secretary and in sales.  In 2000 they moved to Woodland , CA to be nearer to their daughter, Maria, and her family.
 
Pauline loved music and enjoyed playing the piano and organ. She enjoyed cooking and was known among family and friends as being an excellent cook.
 
Pauline is survived by her daughter, Maria Grimes and grandson, Nicholas Grimes of Davis, CA and brother, Morris Krug of Russell , KS .  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gunnar, son John Albert and brother and sister-in-law Robert W. Krug and Marlene Krug.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at St John Lutheran Church of Russell.  A private family committal will take place before services.  A memorial has been established with St. John Lutheran Church.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler of Russell, who is in charge of these arrangements.
