Levetta June (Locke) Schultze, 81, of Osborne, Kansas, died on Tuesday, December 02, 2014, at the Parkview Care Center in Osborne after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
Levetta was born on July 23, 1933, in Portis, Kansas, the daughter of John H. and Bonnie L. (Watson) Locke. At 3 years of age, Levetta's mother passed away. Later her father was united in marriage to Wretha (White). Levetta's step mother loved and raised her as if she were her own daughter. Levetta grew up in the Osborne County area and attended school in Covert and Natoma and graduated from Natoma High School in 1952. She met and fell in love with Roger G. Schultze and they were united in marriage on August 23, 1955, in Phillipsburg, Kansas. From this union Levetta and Roger were blessed with 3 children; Kendall, Kim and Wade. Together they managed the family farm and she loved being a farmer's wife and raising her family. As a member of the Free Methodist Church of Osborne for over 50 years, Levetta was involved with various church groups and activities. She was also a longtime member of the Covert Community Club. Cooking, making pies, reading, riding horses and working on the farm and taking care of her animals were things she enjoyed. However, most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving family include her husband Roger Schultze of the home; sons Kendall Schultze and wife Tammy of Waldo, Kansas; daughter Kim Topham and husband Greg of Peabody, Kansas; son Wade Schultze and wife Tina of Osborne, Kansas; brothers John Locke and wife Marilyn of Basalt, Colorado, Ferryl Locke and wife Sen of Tampa, Florida and Neal Locke and wife Kathryn of Argyle, Texas; sister Janell Kriley and husband Roland of Skiatook, Oklahoma; sister in-law Deb Locke of Lawrence, Kansas; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step mother, and brothers Delwin and Marlin Locke.
A memorial service to celebrate Levetta's life will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, December 06, 2014, at the Free Methodist Church in Osborne with Pastor Isaac Wilson officiating. A cremation memorial service has been selected by the family with burial at a later date. The family will greet guests following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the Free Methodist Church of Osborne or the Osborne City Library in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell who is in charge of the memorial service arrangements.
