Dean A. Coffeen, 70, of Russell, Kansas passed away on December 28, 2014 at the Wheatland Nursing Home in Russell. 

Dean was born May 5, 1944 in WaKeeney, Kansas to Ralph and Birdina (Hacket) Coffeen.  He grew up in Russell after moving from Dorrance in 1955. He graduated from Russell High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Fort Hays State University and served in the United States Navy from 1966-1970.

Dean worked many years for KOOD-TV in Bunker Hill and in his younger years for  King of the Road and Giebler TV Repair both of Russell. He enjoyed tinkering with electronics in his spare time. He was a member of Second Baptist Church of Russell, Kansas.

Survivors include an aunt, Irene Coffeen, cousins, Gail Downing and Daniel Downing, all of Russell, Mary Chance of Fraser, Colorado, Sharon Sprinkle of Hutchinson, Kansas and Valdean Feil of Salina, Kansas.   He was preceded in death by his parents.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary who is in charge of these arrangements.
