Louise C. Kertz, 91, was called to her heavenly home on January 02, 2015 from the Midland Care Hospice House in Topeka, KS.

She was born November 10, 1923 in Hays, KS to Menzies Moore and Mary Boitnott Moore. She lived her early life on a farm at Antonino, KS. She attended Good Hope Elementary School four miles west of Antonino, graduated from Hays High School, and Fort Hays State University.  With her degree in Home Economics, she taught school at Ransom and Kiowa, KS.

On June 1, 1947, Louise married Karl H. Kertz at Hays.  They resided in Natoma, KS for 64 years, during which time Louise was a homemaker and did some substitute teaching in the Natoma schools.  Over the years, their marriage was blessed with three children.  In 2011, she moved to Plainville and most recently was living at McCrite Plaza in Topeka.

Louise was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Natoma and also attended First Lutheran Church in Plainville.  During her lifetime, she participated in 4-H, Self Culture Club, Extension Homemaker Units, Legion Auxiliary, as well as various other civic clubs and organizations.  She was an excellent seamstress.

Survivors include her three children: David Kertz of Riverside, CA, Deborah Leatherman of Topeka, Dorothea Thompson of Salina, four grandchildren: Sarah Leatherman, Aaron Leatherman, Garrett Thompson, Leah Beenken, one great grandchild, Lucas Leatherman, and one brother, Millard Moore.

Louise was proceeded in death by her husband, Karl, a granddaughter, Bethany Leatherman, two sisters: Eileen Yarnell and Greta Worman, and two brothers: Kenneth Moore and Milton Moore.

Services for Louise will be held 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Natoma with Pastor Michael Schmidt officiating.  Viewing will take place the day of the service at the church.  Burial will follow at the Lutheran Cemetery in Natoma.  Memorials may be given to the Peace Lutheran Church or Midland Care Hospice and sent in care of the mortuary.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Natoma is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
