Joyce L. Bischoff, 75, of Russell, Kansas, died on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at the Salina Regional Hospital in Salina, Kansas.

Joyce was born on May 25, 1939 in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of Gilbert and Morse (Calvin) Benson.  She grew up and attended school in Racine, Wisconsin.  She was united in marriage to Gene Arthur Corwin in1959 in Racine, Wisconsin and from this union they were blessed with 3 children Mark, Debra and June.  In 1990 she moved to Russell, Kansas, and worked many years as a certified nurse's assistant at Vintage Place in Russell.  She was a member and former treasurer of the 2nd Baptist Church in Russell.  During Joyce's later years in life she met Rex Gillett and they were close companions for 18 years.  She enjoyed her cat, horse racing, and watching football games, especially her Green Bay Packer.  She also enjoyed her cat Gabby, reading, art, jazz music, popcorn, nursing, wildlife, swimming, dancing and peanut butter cookies.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, most of all her grandkids and great grandkids.

Surviving family include her daughter Debra A. Chance and husband Dave of Salina, Kansas; stepmother Cleo Benson of Fredericksburg, Texas; grandchildren  Jason A.Turner,  Christine Crank and Anthony Van Bruggen; great grandkids Emily Milam, Haley and Taten Crank and Annisyn Van Bruggen and Brandon Turner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Mark T. Corwin; daughter June A. Martinez, brother Thomas W. Benson and grandsons  Steven A. Van Bruggen, and longtime companion Rex Gillett.

A memorial celebration of Joyce's life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, January 21, 2015,  at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary Chapel in Russell with Pastor Eric Malone officiating.  Cremation has been selected by the family so there will be no viewing or visitation.  A private inurnment will take place after the chapel service.  A reception will be held after the graveside service at the 2nd Baptist Church in Russell.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
