Larry D. Doty, 69, of Russell, Kansas passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Great Bend Regional Hospital in Great Bend, Kansas.
Larry was born March 26, 1945 in Hays, Kansas, the son of Paul and Stella (Pruter) Doty. He grew up in the “on the ridge” near Fairport, Kansas and graduated from Natoma High School.
Larry was united in marriage to Josie McAdoo on May 13, 1972 in Hays, Kansas. They made their home in the Russell and Natoma area.
Larry worked in the oilfields with Ziegler Well Service and Bill’s Well Service. He also had a small engine business in Russell and Wilson. Later in life he was a CAN and a Sr. Companion. He enjoyed collecting ink pens, playing the harmonica, drawing and painting.
Larry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Josie of the home; daughter Kayla Swaney of Hays, Kansas; brother, Arvin Doty (Lois) of Natoma, Kansas; sisters, Lorrene Miller of Turpin, Oklahoma, Shirley Sarver of Plainville, Kansas, and Karen Armbruster (Curt) of Goddard, Kansas; three grandchildren, Shevelle, Dalton and Janay; and a great grandson, Seth Swords. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Pauline Finch, brother LeRoy Doty and granddaughter Sheyenne Swaney.
A Gathering where family meets friends will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell. Cremation has preceded the gathering. Condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
