Viola Marie (Quint) Kuhn of Russell, Kansas passed away Monday, February 16, 2015 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Kansas.
Viola was the daughter of John and Catherine (Windholtz) Quint. She grew up in Victoria and graduated from Victoria High School.
Viola was united in marriage to Elmer J. Kuhn DDS on June 18, 1947 in Victoria. This union was blessed with three children; Peggy, Mary and John. They made their home in Russell, Kansas. Elmer preceded her in death on October 27, 1990.
Viola was a devoted wife and homemaker. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Ladies Guild, Daughters of Isabella of Victoria, and Russell V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She was also active in the Russell Rotary, Chamber of Commerce and Russell Regional Hospital Auxiliary. She delivered Meals on Wheels for many years, enjoyed playing Bridge with many local Bridge Clubs, cooking, traveling, and delighted in the “Arts”. But most of all she took greatest pleasure in friends and family. She will be remembered for her love of sports from baseball as a young woman to golf in her later years. She will be remembered and admired for her boundless energy and zest for life.
Surviving family include her two daughters, Peggy London (Wayne) of Shawnee, Kansas and Mary Tuerk (Tim) of Murrieta, California; son, Dr. John Kuhn (Maricel) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister, Norma Fellers of Hays, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Chris London (Katy), Jason Tuerk, Matt London, Ashley Kuhn-Spieker (Bo), Kristen Tuerk, John Richard Kuhn and Nicholas Kuhn; and great grandchild, Ellie London. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and four sisters.
Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday, February 21, 2015 at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church of Russell. Graveside Service will be held at 1:30 PM, Saturday, February 21, 2015 at St. Fidelis Catholic Cemetery in Victoria, Kansas. Visitation will be from 10 AM to 5 PM , Friday, February 20, 2015 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell. Vigil and Rosary will be held at 7 PM Friday, at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Memorials have been established with Russell Senior Center and Russell Rotary.
