David “Dave” Kuhn, 60, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 at his home.

Dave was born August 31, 1954 in Hays, Kansas, the son of Emil and Luella (Walters) Kuhn.  He grew up in Victoria, Kansas and graduated from Victoria High School.  He then attended a Vo-Tech school in Great Bend.

Dave was united in marriage to Gail Ash on January 19, 1974 in Victoria.  This union was blessed with three children; Jennifer, David and Christine.  They made their home in Victoria until 1978 when they moved to Russell.

Dave was the owner and operator of Heartland Auto Body in Russell for over 16 years when he retired in 2007.  Before that, he worked for Chief Industries as an assistant manager for 20 years.

Dave was a member of St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Victoria.  He enjoyed drag racing as a driver and mechanic; reading, spending time with his grandkids, his cat Pudin, swimming, rebuilding and refurnishing guns, building ship models and cheering on his Kansas City Chiefs.

Dave’s surviving family include his wife of 41 years, Gail of the home; son, David Joseph Kuhn and wife Crystal of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughter, Christine Kuhn and significant other Michael Bowers of Carl Junction, Missouri; brothers, Neal Kuhn of Victoria, Kansas and Jim Kuhn of Munjor, Kansas; sisters, Helen Station and Carol Kuhn both of Hays, Kansas; six grandchildren,  Ryan, Brayden, Madison, Kadin, Macey and Blake; and a great grandson, Brayden.  He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Jennifer Kuhn Bishop.

Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, March 20, 2015 at St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Victoria.  Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Russell.  Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM Thursday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell.  Vigil and Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary.  A Memorial has been established with St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery Fund.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
