Marvin L. Boxberger, 82, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Main Street Manor in Russell, Kansas.

Marvin was born March 8, 1933 on the family farm near Milberger, Kansas, the son of J. Ben and Lydia (Miller) Boxberger.  He grew up and attended schools in Russell.

Marvin served his country in the U.S. Army during 1953 to 1955.  He then served in the Reserves until 1961.

Marvin was united in marriage to Rita Steinle on August 9, 1959 in St. John Lutheran Church of Russell.  This union was blessed with three children; Randy, Brenda and Kim.  They made their home in Russell.

Marvin was an oil field mechanic and cable tool driller for Braden-Deem Drilling Co. for over 29 years.  He also worked for Russell Engine Service for seven years.  He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Russell American Legion Post 99 and the Russell Elks Lodge.  He enjoyed working on motors, gardening, hunting, watching sports especially the K.C. Royals, K.C. Chiefs and the Kansas Jayhawks, drinking coffee and scratching lotto tickets with his buddies and spending time with his grandkids.

Surviving family include his wife of 55 years, Rita of the home; son, Randy Boxberger (Cathy) of Russell, Kansas; daughters, Brenda Boxberger of Russell, Kansas and Kim Augustine (Don) of Russell, Kansas; brother, Eugene Boxberger of Miller, Missouri; sisters, Delores Ochs (Edwin) of Great Bend, Kansas and Irene Strecker (Harlan) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; five grandchildren, Nick Augustine, Josh Boxberger, Megan Boxberger, Talyn Froelich and Cassidy Froelich.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Alice Cotton and Rosie Boxberger.

Celebration of Marvin’s Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary.  Burial will follow at the Russell City Cemetery where Russell V.F.W. Post #6240 Honor Guard will conduct Military Rites.  Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Friday, March 20, 2015 at the mortuary. A Memorial has been established with Russell County Food Pantry.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
