Ramona Marie (Carlin) Gudenkauf, 87, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 at her home with her family by her side.
Ramona was born September 12, 1928 on the family farm near Lillis, Kansas, the daughter of Emmett and Josephine (Smith) Carlin. She grew up in Lillis and Frankfort, Kansas area and graduated from Frankfort High School.
Ramona was united in marriage to Hubert M. Gudenkauf on June 9, 1947 in Frankfort. This union was blessed with three children; Linda, Robert and Charles. They lived in Frankfurt from 1942 until 1972 when they moved to Russell. Hubert preceded her in death on April 7, 2012.
Ramona was a devoted wife and homemaker. She was a bookkeeper for the family business, the Frankfort Elevator. She also worked at Belle Vista, First Federal Savings and Loan and was a clerk in the Russell County Treasury office. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Heartland Sams Camping Club, Shooting Stars Square Dance Club and McDonald’s Morning Coffee group. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, doing puzzles, bird watching, playing with her ipad, traveling and dancing with Hubert. She loved spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving family include her daughter, Linda Scheck (Rod) of Wichita, Kansas; son, Charles “Chuck” Gudenkauf (Pam) of Russell, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Debbie Gudenkauf of Leawood, Kansas; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Hubert, son Robert “Bob” Gudenkauf, three brothers, one sister and two great grandsons Henry Scheck and Jude Gudenkauf.
Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, November 6, 2015 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church of Russell. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Thursday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Memorials have been established with Russell Council of Catholic Women or Russell Regional Hospital Campaign for Continuing Excellence.
