Lois M. (Meyeres) Wheeler, 72, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at the Great Bend Regional Hospital in Great Bend, Kansas.

Lois was born April 25, 1943 in Hoisington, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Isabell (Kinzel ) Meyeres.  At the age of fourteen her family moved to Downs, Kansas.  She graduated from Downs High School in 1961.  She then graduated from cosmetology school in Wichita.  After graduation she moved to Russell, Kansas.

Lois was united in marriage to H. Dean Wheeler on February 14, 1970 in Russell.  They made their home in Russell.

Lois worked for Thouvenelle Beauty Shop for many years before opening her own shop.  She was the owner and operator of Lois’ Beauty Shop for many years before retiring in 2012.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  She was a licensed hHam radio operator with a call sign of KB0QGU.  She loved following Dean when he was racing, was a big Dale Earnhardt and racing fan.  She enjoyed fishing, four wheeling in the mountains and shopping with her friends.

Surviving family include her husband of 45 years, Dean of the home; brother, Gilbert Meyeres (Frances) of Downs, Kansas; brother-in-law, Robert Wheeler of Portis, Kansas; sister-in-law, Beverly Roskilly (Jamie) of Salina, Kansas.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 21, 2015 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church of Russell.  A private burial of ashes will follow at a later date.  A Memorial has been established with the Russell Council of Catholic Woman (RCCW).  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
