Douglas E. Rutherford, 68, of Russell, Kansas, died on July 01, 2016, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.

Douglas was born on October 07, 1947, in Little River, Kansas, the son of James E. and Beatrice Lucille (Tyrrell) Rutherford.  He spent his childhood in Aurora, Colorado and graduated from Hinkley High School in Aurora.  After high school he joined the Navy.  He worked as a welder and lived in Russell the last 20 years.

Douglas is survivied by his mother of Aurora, Colorado; his sister Shirley Todd and brother Ted Rutherford both of Aurora, Colorado and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and brother James C. Rutherford.

Cremation has been selected by the family and will have a private service at a later date.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
