Jamie “Jay” Dee Duff, 59, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away October 19, 2016, in St. Petersburg.

Jamie was born to parents Jay Dee and Gloria K. “Katy” (Maupin) Duff on June 5, 1957 in Russell, Kansas.

His parents divorced and his mother married Stephen T. “Steve” Heinen in 1960.  The family lived in Osborne, Kansas and later moved to Russell in 1971, where Jamie attended and graduated from Russell High School.  Jamie left Russell and lived in several different states including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Florida.  While in Pennsylvania he met, fell in love with and married Sandra Harter Shade.  He and Sandra had one son together, Elijah.

Surviving family include his mother Katy Herrman (Raymond) of Russell, Kansas; son, Elijah Loren Duff of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; brother, Stephen g. Heinen of Wichita, Kansas; two sisters, Gwenda Kay Radcliffe (Keith) of Meadows Place, Texas and Susanne Yarmer (Verlin) of Russell, Kansas; three nieces, Tina Rye, Kayla Jones (Chris), and Jennie Heinen; four nephews, Craig White, Justin White, Stephen G. II and John Heinen; one grand-niece and three grand-nephews; an uncle, aunts and cousins.

Jamie was preceded in death by his grandfather, Leland Maupin; step-father Steve Heinen; grandmother Ruby (Wallace) Maupin Keller; and father Jay Dee Duff.

A Celebration of Jamie’s Life will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, November 12, 2016 at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church of Russell.  A private burial of ashes will take place at a later date.  The family will be available to greet friends from 9:00 AM to Service time at the Church.  Memorials may be made to Daystar Life Center of St. Petersburg.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, who is in charge of these arrangements.
