Connie Sue (Flegler) Golbek, 64, of Salina, Kansas and formerly of Russell, Kansas, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017, at the Smoky Hill Rehabilation Center in Salina.
Connie was May 23, 1953 at Russell, Kansas, the daughter of Vernon Dean and Barbara Flegler. She grew up on a farm south of Russell by the Smoky Hill River, with brothers Richard and Alan. She enjoyed visiting with Grandmother Hannah, (Mrs. Jacob) who lived nearby on the Dutton place, also her grandmother and grandfather, Clyde and Treva Copeland, who lived in Russell, where Dean and family eventually moved.
Connie married Dan Golbek on May 26, 1973. Later they adopted a baby boy who they named John Dean.
Connie was known in Russell, for her many baking skills, love of flowers and her vegetable garden. She also gave piano lessons for a number of years.
Worshipping God was important in her life and she attended Otterbein United Methodist plus Calvary Chapel Assembly of God, both of Russell.
Surviving family include her son, John Galbek and wife Lori of Bennington, Kansas; her mother, Barbara Flegler of Billings, Montana; brother and sister-in-law, Alan Flegler and Darnell O’Brien of Billings, Montana; sister-in-law, Sue Flegler of Great Bend, Kansas; grandchildren, Jonathan Galbek, Lily Golbek, Fansiha Estfeld and husband Bryan; and great grandchildren, Easton, Jett and Finley Estfeld all of Overland Park, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her father Vernon Dean and brother Rick Flegler.
Celebration of Connie’s Life will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell with Pastor Jim Alexander officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Russell. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Memorial has been established with the Calvary Chapel of the Assembly of God Church.
