Viola Katherine (Kuhn) Vonfeldt, 86, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Friday, November 10, 2017 at Main Street Manor in Russell.
Viola was born April 11, 1931 in Ellis County, Kansas, the daughter of Nicholas and Catherine (Braun) Kuhn. She grew up and attended schools in Victoria, Kansas.
Viola met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Donald J. Vonfeldt on April 11, 1951 in Victoria. This union was blessed with three children; Bonnie, Gary and Peggy.
They made their home on the family farm south of Russell.
Viola was a devoted wife and homemaker for her family. She also worked part time for the Nielsen’s This & That Store. She also made floral arrangements for weddings for many years. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Russell Council of Catholic Women. She enjoyed gardening, baking, caring for animals, sewing and doing puzzles. The most important things in her life were her family.
Surviving family include her husband of 66 years, Donald of the home; daughters, Bonnie Schwien (John) of Russell, Kansas and Peggy Pitcock (Tom) of Cunningham, Kansas; son, Gary Vonfeldt (Kathy) of Russell, Kansas; six grandchildren, Toby Schwien (Samantha), Amber Farris (Gary), Travis Vonfeldt, Aimee Vonfeldt, Annie Weigel (Justin) and Taton Pitcock (Natosha) and six great grandchildren, Jakob Schwien, Connor Schwien, Caitlyn Pitcock, Trenton Pitcock, Owen Pitcock and Hesston Pitcock. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Gilbert Kuhn and infant sister Norma Lee Kuhn.
Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Vigil will be held at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to Vigil at the mortuary on Tuesday. A Memorial has been established with St. Mary’s Catholic Church Handicap Fund. Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
