Linda Kay (Coody) Novotny, 70, of Russell, Kansas, died on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at the Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. 

Linda was born on December 26, 1946, in Delhi, Louisiana, the daughter of H.E. and Shirley (Clifton) Coody.  She grew up in Epps, Louisiana and graduated from Epps High School in the class of 1966.  She has lived in Russell, Kansas, since 1970.  She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Edmo Jean Novotny on September 07, 1982, in Las Vegas, Nevada.  For 35 years she worked as a sales executive for the Heritage Company in selling office supplies and advertising merchandise.  When Heritage sold to Halo Branded Solutions, she continued to work as a sales executive with them the last few years up until her passing.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Hays, Kansas.  She was also a member of T.O.P.S., V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and Russell Regional Hospital Auxiliary.  She enjoyed traveling, fishing, helping people and spending time with their family.  She also enjoyed performing as a volunteer for the American Heart Association.

Surviving family include her husband Edmo Jean Novotny of the home, two sisters Gloria June Clark (Charles) of Tescott, Kansas and Elsie Lee Felker of Vicksburg, Mississippi; sister in-law Lottie Ann Coody and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Talmadge Ray Coody and infant brother James Harold Coody special brother in-law W.W Felker. 

A celebration of Linda's life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 05, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2901 Canal Blvd in Hays, Kansas.  Burial will follow at the Hoisington City Cemetery in Hoisington, Kansas.  Visitation will be 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Monday, December 04, 2017, at the mortuary with family greeting guests from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. Monday evening.  Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or Russell Regional Hospital Campaign For Excellence and sent in care of the mortuary.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
