Donald Dean “Boss” Casper, 88, of Russell, Kansas and formerly of Wilson, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.
Don was born July 20, 1929 in rural Russell County, Kansas, the son of Clark and Clara (Herbel) Casper. Don served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After the war, he returned to the Wilson area. In his younger days, he broke horses. He loved playing in the dirt and so he started his dirt construction company, Casper Construction Co. of Wilson. He operated this company until his retirement. After retirement he enjoyed fishing with his friend Jim Bo, and setting in his shed watching people drive by. So when you drive by his shed, he will be waving at you, you just won’t see him. He loved his red pickups that he had over the years. He was a life member of the Russell V.F.W. Post #6240.
Don has two daughters from his first marriage, Donna Krug and Carla Parker. Later he was united in marriage to Maxine McGary on November 14, 2008. From this union he has five step children. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Wilma Wanek; and step sons, Thomas McGary and Doug McGary. He will be greatly missed by all of us, but will forever be in our hearts.
Don’s surviving family include his wife Maxine of the home; daughters, Donna Krug of Russell, Kansas and Carla Parker of Pratt, Kansas; five step children, Jacqueline Doherty of Olathe, Kansas, Jennifer Jackson of Las Vegas, Nevada, Steve McGary (Robin) of Aurora, Colorado, Jyne Reilly (L.L.) of Russell, Kansas and Mark McGary of Olathe, Kansas; two brothers, Elmer Casper (Ida) of Lucas, Kansas and Eugene Casper of Russell, Kansas; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Burial will follow at the Wilson City Cemetery in Wilson where Military Rites will be conducted by the Russell V.F.W. Post 6240 Honor Guard.
