Agnes Helen Kindler, 95, of Hoisington, Kansas, and former Russell, Lakewood (CA), and Esbon, Kansas resident died on Friday, November 22, 2019, at the Country Place Senior Living Center in Hoisington, Kansas.
Agnes was born on March 30, 1924, in Esbon, Kansas, on the family farm, the daughter of Samuel and Gertrude (Blattner) Mizner. She grew up in Esbon, helping her family work on the farm and graduated from Esbon High School. She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Gail J. Kindler on May 28, 1943, in Mankato, Kansas. Gail preceded her in death on September 12, 2009. She worked as a teacher in the Esbon area, teaching first through 8th grade in the country school. While in Lakewood she worked for, and retired from, the American Optical Company. She and Gail enjoyed big band music and polka dancing. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sharing stories of her years growing up and teaching in Esbon, Kansas.
Agnes and Gail never had any children but she is survived by her dear friend Janet Peerman and her 19 nieces and nephews who were her children of the heart and whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded by her parents, husband Gail, 1 brother Leo Mizner and 5 sisters Irene Craven, Thelma Lamb, Dorothy Frost, Hazel Frohlich and Gwendolyn Mitchell.
A memorial service to celebrate Agnes' life will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, December 2, 2019, at the Esbon Village Café. Cremation was selected by the family and her ashes will be inurned at the Esbon Cemetery in Esbon, Kansas. In lieu of flowers memorials can be sent to the Village Cafe of Esbon, Kansas and can be sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
