Donald Herman Krug, 82, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Friday, December 13, 2019 at the Russell Regional Hospital with his family by his side.

Don was born march 3, 1937 in Hays, Kansas.  He was one of six children born to Herman Alexander and Esther (Bitter) Krug.  Don Grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in the class of 1954.  He then attended an Missouri Auctioneer School.  Don served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard Reserves for six years.

Don was united in marriage to Sandra Holt on February 28, 1960 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Russell.  This union was blessed with three children; Bradley, Kerry and Charlene.  They made their home in Russell.

Don was a Farmer and Rancher in Russell most all of his life.  He was an Auctioneer since 1954, and owned Krug Auction and Reality.  He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church and served on Church Council.  He was the Exalted Ruler in 1973 of the Russell Elks Lodge.  He worked many years with 4-H clubs in Russell County.  He enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards with family and friends, and traveling to Arizona.

Don’s surviving family include his wife of 59 years, Sandy of the home; sons, Bradley Allen Krug (Barbara of Russell, Kansas and Kerry Don Krug (Carol) of Russell, Kansas; daughter, Charlene Fae Rainey (Tony) of Russell, Kansas; brother, Monte Krug (Connie) of Russell, Kansas; sisters, Joetta Hartman (Eldon) of Mesa, Arizona, Lois Davis (Jim) of Olathe, Kansas and Norma Branch (LeRoy) of Mesa, Arizona; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and sister Marilyn McEvoy.

Celebration of Don’s Life will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at St. John Lutheran Church.  Burial will follow at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Russell.  Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday, December 16, 2019 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  A Memorial has been established with RCACF-4H.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
