Norma Ann (Campbell) Snyder, 92, of Salina, Kansas, and formerly of Russell, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at Kenwood View Health & Rehab Center in Salina.
Norma was born November 27, 1927 in Salina, the daughter of Joseph and Bernice (Mattingly) Campbell.
She grew up in Wakeeney, Kansas and graduated from Wakeeney High School. She then attended Ft. Hays State University.
Norma was united in marriage to Robert W. Snyder on August 19, 1948 in Wakeeney. This union was blessed with three children; Steve, Kent and Patricia. They made their home in Pawnee Rock, Kansas until 1950 when they moved to Salina. Then in 1955 they moved to Russell, living there until 2006 when Norma returned to Salina. Robert preceded her in death on March 27, 2006.
Norma was a devoted wife and homemaker for her family. She worked for Chet Loving Oil Company in Russell as a part time secretary. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Russell. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, knitting, needlepoint, cross stitching and cooking. She enjoyed traveling and camping at Wilson Lake with Robert.
Norma’s surviving family include her daughter, Patricia Stoeppelwerth (Paul) of John’s Creek, Georgia; sons, Steve Snyder (Mary) of Salina, Kansas and Kent Snyder (Cindy) of Rancho Santa Fe, California; half-sister, JoAnn Childress of Los Cruses, New Mexico; seven grandchildren, Quinn, Clay, Evan, Ryan, Erin, Philip and Laura; and five great grandchildren Reese, Luka, Griffin, Grant and Sloane. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, half brother Jim Campbell, and half sisters Betty Anderson and Ion Brodigan.
A private family service will be held at a later date. The family has requested cremation. A Memorial has been established with First Congregational Church. Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
