Patricia Ann “Patty” (Karst) Bricker, 67, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.
Patty was born December 7, 1952 in Russell. She was one of five children born to Nathan and Dorothy (Anderson) Karst. She grew up in Russell a few years before moving to Ellis, Kansas. She graduated from Ellis High School in the Class of 1970.
Patty was united in marriage to Herman Joseph Bricker on October 14, 1972 in Gorham, Kansas. This union was blessed with two children; Sandy and Chris. They made their home in the Gorham area and then in the Russell area. Herman preceded her in death on November 3, 2019.
Patty was involved with food services and bartending at several businesses in the Russell and Gorham area. She worked at Russell Elks Lodge, owner and operator of the Gorham Café, Log Cabin, Jerry’s Place, Waudby’s and was a dietary manager for the Russell Regional Hospital and the Sterling House in Hays. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Gorham. She also was a member of the Russell V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and the Russell Elks Lodge. Patty was “a person who never know a stranger” and was always willing to help others the best she could. She enjoyed fishing, playing bingo and pitch and loved to spoil her grandchildren.
Patty’s surviving family include her daughter, Sandy Boos (Tom Batt) of Russell, Kansas; son, Chris Bricker (Shani) of Taft, California; brother, Ed Karst (Nancy) of Aurora, Colorado; two sisters, Kathy Hashenberger (Dave) of Russell, Kansas and Kay Scheck (Butch) of Russell, Kansas; three grandchildren, Craig Boos (Victoria) of Wichita, Kansas, Jakob Boos (Elle) of Hays, Kansas and Kiera Bricker of Taft, California; and many nieces and nephews.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Steve Karst.
