Janice Marie (Prediger) Friebus, 85, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Main Street Manor of Russell.

Janice was born March 5, 1935 in Hays, Kansas.  She was the only child born to Edward L. and Edith M. (Steinle) Prediger.  She grew up in Dorrance, Kansas and graduated from Dorrance High School.

Janice was united in marriage to Leo V. Friebus on July 4, 1954 at the First Lutheran Church in Dorrance.  This union was blessed with two sons, Dwight and Drew.  They made their home in Dorrance.

Janice was a devoted wife and homemaker.  She also worked as a Medical Transcriptionist in Russell at the Dr. Webb’s office.  She was an active member of the First Lutheran Church of Dorrance and FLEW.  She enjoyed embroidery, playing Bingo, cooking and baking and traveling with Leo.

Janice’s surviving family include her husband of 65 years, Leo of Russell, Kansas; sons, Dwight Friebus (Stacey) of Greeley, Colorado and Drew Friebus (Molly) of Russell, Kansas.  She was preceded in death by her mother and father.

Janice’s family will be conducting private family services at a later date.  Cremation has taken place, so no visitation will be held.  A Memorial has been established with the First Lutheran Church of Dorrance.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, who is in charge of these arrangements.
