Patricia Ann Brown, 66, of Gorham died on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. She was born on March 27, 1944 in Rooks County, Kansas, the daughter of Vernon and Leah (Mayo) Matheson. She grew up and attended school in the Natoma, Kansas area. Later she moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where she lived for almost 15 years. In 1999 she moved back close to home and has lived in Gorham for the past 11 years. She worked at the Hays Medical Center in the Environmental Services Department. She loved and worked countless hours on one of her favorite things, crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed spending time in the kitchen cooking up her children’s favorite dishes during family gatherings. She also enjoyed crafts, sewing, beanie babies and browsing Ebay. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and granddaughter.
Surviving family include her daughter Lorelei Cothren and husband Jeff of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three sons Lloyd Brett McConnell of Wichita, Kelly J. McConnell and Todd J. McConnell both of Gorham; two brothers Verneal Matheson of Holcomb, Kansas Calvin Matheson of Iola, Kansas; three sisters LaVernne Johnson and Verna Munk both of Gorham and Mary Logsdon of Ponca City, Oklahoma and granddaughter Danielle N. Palmer and husband Joseph of Tuttle, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service to celebrate Patricia’s life will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary Chapel in Russell with Reverend Vic Calcote officiating. Cremation has been selected by the family so there will be no visitation or viewing. Memorials may be given to the Hays Medical Center Oncology Department and may be sent in care of the mortuary Condolences can be sent via email by going to www.pvpmortuary.com.
