Sean Paul Banks, 19 of Russell died Thursday, June 24, 2010 from an accident at the Agco elevator in Russell.
Sean was born March 13, 1991 in Russell, Kansas the son of David and Melanie (Wagner) Banks. He grew up in Russell going to school and playing sports. Sean was very active at Russell High School. He was the co-Valedictorian of the graduating class of ’09 with a 4.0 all four years. A four year member of SADD, CYO and Student Council and a two year member of Kay Club and Homecoming King his senior year. He was a varsity letterman in football, wrestling, State Champion in power lifting his junior and senior years and All-League as a catcher in baseball.
He then attended Hutchinson Community College. There he was active in student government, baseball and was Homecoming King his freshman year.
Sean was a member of St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church. In his spare time, when he wasn’t spending time running around with his friends or spending time with Peyton, he loved playing playstation, Frisbee golf and looking for new challenges to overcome.
Surviving family include his parents, David and Melanie Banks of the home; sister Kayla Schneider and husband Brian of Russell, Kansas; Maternal grandmother Betty Wagner and Paternal grandmother, Mary Banks both of Russell and great grandparents, Bob and Vivian Dietrich of Chapman, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Paul J. Wagner and Paul Banks and grandmother Wava Buckley.
Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church of Russell with Father Charles Steier officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Russell. The Vigil will be held at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the Church. Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. Monday and 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. Tuesday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell. A memorial has been established with the Russell High School Athletic Department. Contributions and condolences may be sent in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
