Mary Katherine Bay, 91 of Russell died Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.

She was born August 6, 1919, in Trenton, Kansas, the daughter of Orville and Mary (Walle) Rassette. 
 
She was married to Victor Bay on April 21, 1940.  He died April 2, 1996.
 
She was a longtime Russell resident and completed her education in Dorrance and the Russell County area.  She was a Nursing Assistant at Russell Regional Hospital for 25 years, before retirement.  She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Russell and the Russell Elks Lodge.
 
She is survived by one son, Robert Bay of Greensboro, NC, 4 grandchildren, Eric Bay of Mexico, MO, Shari Garcia of Perry, MO, Nina Troester of Kansas City, MO, and Nicole Miller of St. Charles, MO and 8 great grandchildren.  She also is survived by one sister, Anna Stack of Salina, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
 
Also preceding her in death were sisters, Orlie Hanks, Helen Buehler and Cecelia Rassette and brothers, Walter, Lawrence and William Rassette.
 
Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday, August 14, 2010 at St. John Lutheran Church of Russell with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating.  Burial will follow at the Russell City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. Friday, August 13, 2010 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell. A memorial has been established with St. John's Lutheran Church.  Contributions and condolences may be sent in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell who is in charge of these arrangements.
