Nancy Rae Wallace, 66, of Russell, died on Sunday, August 22, 2010 at her home in Russell.
Nancy was born on November 20, 1943 in Russell, Kansas, the daughter of William Henry and Margaret F. (Reddig) Kuntzsch. She grew up in the Bunker Hill and Russell County area most all her life and attended public schools in Bunker Hill. She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Everett L. Hupfer, Sr. on January 1, 1958 in Russell. Everett preceded her in death on September 10, 1982. From this union they were blessed with three children Everett Jr., Bonnie and Debbie. Later in life, Nancy found love for a second time and she was united in marriage to Phillip Wallace on February 6, 1984. He also preceded her in death on February 12, 2007. Nancy worked as a cook for most of her life and worked at the Holiday Inn as a cook in Salina for over 15 years. She was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, bowling and cooking. Most of all she loved playing bingo and going fishing. She also enjoyed spending time with her very large family, especially her children and many grandchildren.
Surviving family include her son Everett “Butch” Hupfer, Jr. and companion Kay Scheck of Russell; daughter Bonnie Stevenson of Great Bend and Debbie Stephens of Topeka; brothers Billy, Kenny and John Kuntzsch all of Russell, Jim Kuntzsch of Dorrance and Dennis Kuntzsch of Palco, Kansas; sisters Pat Edsall of Hays and Norma Atchison of Russell, 15 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister Peggy Heckens.
A memorial service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, August 30, 2010 at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating. The guest book will be available from Noon to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at the mortuary. The family has requested that memorials be given. Please give to the Nancy R.
