Alvina Estella (Steinert) Bangert, 93 of Russell died Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Main Street Manor in Russell, Kansas.
Alvina was born April 16, 1917 on the family farm west of Milberger, Kansas. She was the daughter of Julius and Mary R. (Wegele) Steinert. She grew up near Milberger and attended country schools.
Alvina was united in marriage to Edwin Bangert on November 21, 1937 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bender Hill, Kansas. They adopted Patricia Ann on August 2, 1956. Edwin preceded her in death on April 28, 1994.
Alvina was a devoted wife and homemaker. She also worked at the Russell City Hospital in the laboratory for over 12 years.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Russell. She enjoyed playing crochet and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving family include her daughter, Patricia Ulrich and husband Chris of Meadow Grove, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Debbie Miller, Sondra Falck, Ed Ulrich and Richard Ulrich; and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Martin Steinert and Rufus Steinert; and sister Esther Miller.
Celebration of Alvina’s Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Russell. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Friday, October 22, 2010 at the mortuary. A memorial has been established with St. John Lutheran Church. Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
