Myron Keith Bartlett, 84 of Paradise died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Main Street Manor in Russell, Kansas.
Myron was born May 11, 1926 in Luray, Kansas the son of Vernon C. and Lelia (Whitman) Bartlett. He grew up in the Paradise area and graduated from Paradise High School.
Myron served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was stationed in the South Pacific mainly on Guam where he was a carpenter’s mate with the Sea Bees.
Myron met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Ruth E. Scott on January 11, 1948 in Russell. They made their home on a farm in the Paradise area. This union was blessed with three children; Lonnie, Terri and Traci.
Myron was a farmer and rancher his whole life. He was proud to do it the cowboy way.
Myron was a member of the Paradise United Methodist Church. He also belonged to the Russell V.F.W. and the Russell Elks Lodge. He loved spending time with horses, roping, frequenting the sale barn, and was a co-founder of the Paradise Pitch Club.
Surviving family include his wife of 62 years, Ruth of the home; son, Lonnie Bartlett of Corpus Christi, Texas; daughters, Terri Weinhold and husband Al of Wilson, Kansas and Traci Peterson of Lindsborg, Kansas; sisters, Reta Weller of Redding, California and Neva Anderson of Clay Center, Kansas; 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Wilda Musgrave and Vernita Scott and granddaughter Alison Wood.
Celebration of Myron’s Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at the Paradise United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Herman Cemetery of rural Paradise. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Tuesday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell with the family present to greet friends from 6 PM to 7 PM.
