Blandine (Sander) Giebler, 88 of Russell died Sunday, February 6, 2011 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
Blandine was born September 11, 1922 in Walker, Kansas the daughter of Michael and Anna (Geist) Sander. She grew up on the family farm north of Walker and graduated from Walker High School.
Blandine was united in marriage to Francis Giebler on November 11, 1946 in Walker, Kansas. This union was blessed with five children; Edna, Gene, Bonnie, Michael and Galen. They made their home in Russell, Kansas. Francis preceded her in death on February 27, 2004.
Blandine was a devoted mother and housewife. She took great pride in raising her children.
Blandine was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Russell. She enjoyed being outside tending her flowers and garden; traveling to visit family and collecting family history.
Surviving family include two daughters, Edna Giebler of Russell, Kansas and Bonnie Ivy and husband Mark of Anchorage, Alaska; three sons, Gene Giebler and Michael Giebler and wife Melody all of Littleton, Colorado and Galen Giebler of Radondo Beach, California; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and four sisters.
Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be heldat 10:30 A.M. on Friday, February 11, 2011 at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church of Russell with Fr. James Grennan officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Russell. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 5 PM, Thursday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell. Vigil and Rosary will be held at
7 PM Thursday, February 10, 2011 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Condolences may be sent in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
