Richard Randall “Randy” Powell, 50 of Russell died Sunday, February 13, 2011 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.
Randy was born February 9, 1961 in Winfield, Kansas the son of Richard and Barbara (Meier) Powell. He grew up and attended school in Winfield and Russell. He graduated from Russell High School in 1979.
Randy was united in marriage to Joetta Dougherty on September 15, 1984 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Russell, Kansas
Randy started out working in the oil fields around Russell. He had worked for several oil companies in the area before he became Co-Owner & operator of Russell Pump and Supply. He retired in 2010 due to health reasons.
Randy enjoyed the outdoors. He liked golfing, hunting, fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed helping Joetta’s family at harvest time.
Surviving family include his wife of 26 years, Joetta of the home; mother, Barbara Powell of Winfield, Kansas; two brothers, Mike Powell and wife Tammy of Winfield, Kansas and Rob Powell of Beaumont, Texas; sister, Teri Coble and husband David of Winfield, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his father, Dick.
Private family services were held for Randy. Cremation has taken place. A memorial has been established with the Russell American Legion Baseball Team. Contributions and condolences may be sent in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, who is in charge of these arrangements.
