Marilyn Louise (Krueger) Chesney, 74 of Hays, Kansas died Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at  St. John's Health Care Center in Hays.

Marilyn was born May 15, 1936 in Natoma, Kansas, the daughter of Harold Roy and Yvonne (Paschal) Krueger.  She grew up in Natoma and graduated from Natoma High School in 1954.  She graduated from Ft. Hays State University with a degree in Home Economics.  She lived most of her life in the Hays area.

Marilyn was a devoted homemaker and loving mother.  She also was successful in oil and gas investments and  other investments.

Marilyn attended the Natoma Methodist Church for many years.  She was a member of the Alpha Delta Phi Sorority, Red Hat Society and the Eastern Star of Natoma.  She was very active in politics and was a past Co-Chairman for the Rooks County Republican Party and also was a precinct committee person in many elections.  She had a Republican booth at the Rooks County Fair at election time during the 1960s.  She loved to dance, especially tap dancing, bowling and traveling.  She was crowned Miss KAYS in Kansas City when she was younger.  The enduring focus of her life was her children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Surviving family include three children; Michelle LeSage and husband Leon of Pretty Prairie, Kansas, Phillip Krueger and wife Lisa of Lake Havasu City, Arizona and Kelley Chesney and companion Kathie Dickson of Wichita, Kansas; brothers, Roy Krueger of Russell, Kansas and Tom Krueger of Canton, Georgia; sisters, Cynthia Krueger of Topeka, Kansas, Pamela Krueger of Sun City, Arizona and Sylvia Havner of Overland Park, Kansas; three grandchildren, Kimberley Barrett and husband Scott of Prescott Valley, Arizona; Sydney and Sawyer LeSage of Pretty Prairie, Kansas; and great grandson Tyler Barrett of Prescott Valley, Arizona.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Celebration of Marilyn’s Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell with Rev. Delbert Stanton officiating.  Burial will follow, approximately at noon, at the Natoma City Cemetery in Natoma, Kansas.  Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Friday at the mortuary with the family present to greet friends from 6 PM to 7 PM.  A memorial has been established with St. Jude’s Children's Hospital.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.  Condolences may also be sent via email at pvpmortuary.com.
