Vera Leona (Brack) Weimaster, 90 years of age, was born on February 21, 1921 and passed away to be with the lord on April 28th, 2011 at Rose Arber Home in Flagstaff, AZ.    She was the daughter of David O. Brack and Amelia (Wagner) Brack from Otis, Kansas.

On October 11, 1942, she was united in marriage to Albert E. Weimaster Sr. at the St. John Lutheran Church. Vera and her husband were blessed with two sons, Albert E. (Sonny) and Gerald Dennis Weimaster.  Unfortunately they both preceded her in death along with her husband Albert E. Weimaster Sr.

Not wanting to be alone anymore in her remaining aging years, Vera made the decision to move away from Russell, Kansas to Flagstaff, Arizona to be with her son Albert..

Starting their new life together, Albert and Vera made their home on a farm that was just south of Russell.  Vera was a very active housewife as well as Mother.  She went to work at Grant School located on Highway 281, just before getting to the Smokey Hill River, and cooked every day for the students that attended there for many years.

Soon the decision was made that it would be easier to move to town and seek employment there.  Vera became employed at Bickerdyke School and baked bread and cooked for the children’s lunch hour for another 14 years before she retired.  Being a “people person”, Vera enjoyed the company of the sewing club she belonged to, as well as the meetings at the Priscilla Group where she was a member at the St. John Lutheran Church.  Vera also loved children of all ages and spent a great deal of time with her grandchildren when they were growing up.

Vera still maintained an active life, and included her friends, despite a retinal disease of the eyes, which took most of her sight but didn’t hold her down. Sadly she couldn’t enjoy her favorite hobby planting flowers anymore.

A special thank you to my Grandchildren Michael and Kimberly for taking care of me.

Vera is survived by her sister Bernice Krause, of Mercedes Texas, five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.  Preceeding her in death, were her four brothers Raymond, J. Dean, (Butch), Lawrence, Roger Brack, and one sister Joann Brack.

Celebration of Vera’s Life will be held at 10:30 A.M.  Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating.  Private family services will be held at St. John Lutheran cemetery.  Visitation will be from noon to 8 PM Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at the mortuary.  A memorial has been established with the St. John Lutheran Church.  Contributions and condolences may be sent in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
