Isabel (Duvall) Letsch, 89 of Bunker Hill, Kansas died Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas

Isabel was born on the family farm northeast of Bunker Hill on November 18, 1921.  She was one of ten children born to Guy and Elnora (Scharpf) Duvall.  She grew up in the Bunker Hill area and attended country schools.  She graduated from Bunker Hill High School in 1939.

Isabel met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Don Letsch on June 28, 1941 in Bunker Hill.  This union was blessed with four daughters, Linda, twins Sherrill and Judith and Donna.  Don was in the Army Air Corp so they made their home near airfields in Wichita, Kansas, Enid, Oklahoma and in Texas.  In 1945 they returned to Bunker Hill and have lived there ever since.  Don preceded her in death in 2004.

Isabel was a homemaker and devoted wife and mother.  Her life revolved around her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Isabel was a member of the Bunker Hill United Methodist Church.  She loved spending time in her garden and taking care of the yard.  She was an avid New York Yankees fan.

Surviving family include her four daughters, Linda Letsch of  Andover, Kansas, Sherrill Letsch of Wichita, Kansas, Judith Echer and Donna Letsch both of Bunker Hill, Kansas; two sisters, Gloria Dockstader of Bunker Hill, Kansas and Wilma Mills of Manhattan, Kansas; five grandchildren, Wade (Camille) Echer, Renae Satchell, Jessica (John) Rockhold, Kendall(Jeff) Heiman and Adam Irwin; and four great grandchildren, Greyson, Amelia, Lena and Asher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, three brothers, Duane, Guy and Dean; and four sisters, Mary Chard, Betty Neill, Vivian Steinle and Elnora Cook.

A Memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the Bunker Hill Cemetery in Bunker Hill, Kansas.  Friends may sign the register book Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary from 9 AM to 5 PM.  Cremation has preceded the service.  A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.  Contributions and condolences may be sent in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
