Keith Leon Jeffries, 79 of Russell died Friday, September 30, 2011 at the Rossville Health Center in Rossville, Kansas.
Keith was born July 6, 1932 on the family farm near Modoc, Kansas the son of Forrest and Mabel (Shearmire) Jeffries. He grew up in the Modoc area and graduated from Scott City High School.
Keith was united in marriage to Joyce Arlene Boxberger on December 24, 1952 in Russell, Kansas. This union was blessed with seven children; Wade, Shawn, Clay, Ryne, Ronette, Bode and Matt. They made their home in Russell. Joyce preceded him in death on January 11, 2010.
Keith was the owner and operator of J & J Construction in Russell. He was also a farmer and rancher on the side.
Keith was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses of Russell. He enjoyed camping, fishing, rock and arrowhead hunting and reading petroglyphs.
Surviving family include his children; Wade Jeffries of Worland, Wyoming, Shawn Vandergon of Omaha, Nebraska, Clay Jeffries of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Ryne Jeffries of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Ronette Vering of Topeka, Kansas, and Bode Jeffries of Topeka, Kansas; five brothers, Forrest Jeffries, Jr. and Donnel Jeffries both of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Ron Jeffries of Russell, Kansas, Dean Jeffries of Leoti, Kansas and Robert Jeffries of Modoc, Kansas; 14 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joyce on January 11, 2010 and son Matt.
Celebration of Keith’s Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses of Russell. A memorial has been established with the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Contributions and condolences may be sent in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, who is in charge of these arrangements. Cremation has preceded the service.
