Evelyn Marie (Jacobs) Ehrlich, 86, of Russell, Kansas, departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior on November 7, 2011 at her home at Vintage Place in the loving care of the Vintage Staff and her family.

Evelyn was born October 8, 1925 on the family farm northeast of Gorham, the daughter of Adam and Mary (Schmidtberger) Jacobs.  She grew up on the family farm and attended Highland School.  On January 10, 1946 Evelyn was united in marriage to Paul Ehrlich.  Shortly after their marriage, they moved to the Ehrlich Family Farm located east of Russell where they lived until 1960 when they moved to Russell.  To this marriage, they were blessed with two children.  They were privileged to share over 59 years of married life together before Paul passed away on June 13, 2005.

Throughout her adult life, Evelyn worked as a waitress at several popular restaurants in Russell, including the Eat-N-Time Café, Tower Café, the Elks Lodge and Martha’s Café.  She also worked as a cook at the Russell High School and Russell Hospital.  Evelyn enjoyed serving others.  Evelyn was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Russell.  She enjoyed being a homemaker, wife and mother to her children.  In her later years, she enjoyed visits from her children and grandchildren and spending her holidays with family.  She also enjoyed going to McDonald’s and visiting with friends.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Larry D. Ehrlich and wife Joanne of Wichita, Kansas; daughter Marilyn Bever and husband Terry of Wichita, Kansas; two grandchildren, Sarah Ehrlich of Wichita, Kansas and Natalie Ehrlich of Portland, Oregon; brother Virgil Jacobs of Hays, Kansas and sister, Glennis Tibbits of Wichita, Kansas.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, and three brothers Al, Victor and Walter Jacobs.

Celebration of Evelyn’s Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary Chapel of Russell with Pastor Lesley Radius officiating.  Burial will follow at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at the mortuary with family present to greet guests from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. Tuesday Evening.  Memorial contributions may be given to St. John Lutheran Church of Russell and sent in care of the mortuary.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
