Beulah Mae Lynch, 94 of Russell died Tuesday morning, December 13, 2011 at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kansas.

Beulah was born August 3, 1917 on the family farm south of Osborne, Kansas, the daughter of Cliffton Daniel and Myrtle Rhoda (Thomas) Cornwell.  She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Covert Rural High School.  She then attended the Bethany College in Oklahoma where her studies were in the medical field.

After college she returned to Osborne for a short time before moving to Colorado.  Then in the early 1950’s she moved to Russell, Kansas.  She was united in marriage to Cecil L. Lynch on September 27, 1958 in Russell.  He preceded her in death on February 19, 1971.

Beulah was an X-Ray and Lab Technician for over 30 years with Dr. White, Dr. Pettijohn and Dr. Shultz.  She worked for over 10 years with the Russell Regional Hospital before retiring in 1991.  She also worked with runaway children for the Russell County Sherriff’s Department. 

Beulah attended the Otterbein United Methodist Church of Russell.  She also belonged to the BPW (Business and Professional Women) and the Russell V.F.W. Post #6240 Ladies Auxiliary.  She loved painting landscapes, horses, mountains and seasonal scenes.  She also enjoyed making personalized birthday cards and scrapbooks, and sharing her great sense of humor with her family and friends.

Surviving family include her two daughters, Clydell Steinert and husband Carl of Chase, Kansas and Kathleen Foss of Great Bend, Kansas; son, Gail Rafferty and wife Janett of Colorado; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Rex Cornwell and sister Goldena Gilbert.

Visitation for Beulah will be held from 9 AM to 5 PM Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell.  A private family service will be held at a later date with interment taking place at the Osborne City Cemetery in Osborne, Kansas.  A memorial has been established with the Russell County EMS.  Contributions and condolences may be sent in care to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary who is in charge of these arrangements.
