Elizabeth Marion (Klema) Steinle, 93, of Russell, Kansas, died on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the Russell Regional Hospital.
Elizabeth was born on Tuesday, December 3 1918, on the family farm in rural Wilson, Kansas. She was the daughter of Joseph Frank and Lillie Alice (Hobl) Klema. She grew up and attended school in Wilson and was also active in the Dorrance area. She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Alvin Earl Steinle in 1939, from this union they were blessed with two children Leonard and Lucille. Alvin preceded her in death on February 26, 1990. When she was a young woman in the 1950’s, Elizabeth worked for Klema’s IGA in Wilson and also worked at the grocery store in Dorrance as well. For most of her life she was a homemaker and dedicated herself to raising and taking care of her family. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, gambling, horse races and taking care of her farm animals, especially her chickens. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and many grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Leonard Steinle and wife Ruth of Russell; daughter Lucille Galliart of Russell; grandchildren Len, Alan, Stephen and Sandra; great grandchildren Christi, Kent, A.J., Nicolas, Kegan, Randi, Kendall, Paige, Keana and Kerri; great-great grandchild Kamryn and her caregiver Joy Tauro of Natoma, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvin, sister Rosie A. Klema and brother Glenn R. Klema.
A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will be held at 10 A.M. on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at the Dorrance City Cemetery in Dorrance, Kansas. Visitation will be from 1 PM to 8 PM on Friday, December 16, 2011 at the mortuary with family present to greet visitors from 6 PM to 7 PM Friday evening. Memorials may be given to the Ronald McDonald House and sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
