Michael Allen Fabian, 56, of Russell, Kansas, died on Sunday, December 25, 2011 at the Russell Regional Hospital.
Michael was born on Tuesday, February 8, 1955, in Russell, the son of Milton and Mary (Adams) Fabian. He grew up in the Russell area and graduated from Russell High School in 1973. After high school he worked as an oil field mechanic and eventually became owner of Russell Engine Service. He owned the company until he retired in 1998. Michael loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and was a member of the Harley Davidson Owners Association. He enjoyed collecting electronic trains, hot wheels and antiques. He also enjoyed his animals and restoring old cars. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his friends, family and especially his children and grandchildren. He will be known as a loving father, loving grandfather, trusted friend and gentle giant with a big heart.
Surviving family include his wife Vickie Frost of the home; daughter Amanda Fabian Valadez and husband Enoe of Russell, son Shane Michaelis of Salina; brother Cecil Fabian and wife Joane of Russell; sisters Becky Partridge and husband Russ and sister Debra Fabian all of Russell; two grandchildren Gianna and Isabella Fabian Valadez both of Russell.
A memorial service to celebrate Michael’s life will be held at 10:30 on Friday, December 30, 2011 at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating. Burial will take place at the Russell City Cemetery at a later date. Cremation has been selected and the family will greet guests before and after the memorial service on Friday. Memorials may be given to the Fabian Grandchildren College Fund and can be sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the memorial service.
