Lorraine (Trapp) Anschutz, 89 of Bunker Hill died Saturday, March 3, 2012 at her home.
Lorraine was born December 1, 1922 on the family farm south of Bunker Hill, Kansas. She was the daughter of John Matthew and Nora Alice (Penix) Trapp. She grew up on the farm and attended country schools.
Lorraine was united in marriage to Jacob Anschutz, Jr. on November 15, 1939 in Ellsworth, Kansas. This union was blessed with three children; Gary, Dianna and Rebecca. Lorraine and Jacob made their home in Paradise, Russell and finally in Bunker Hill. Jacob preceded her in death on July 1, 2002.
Lorraine was a devoted homemaker and farmer’s wife. She was always by Jacob’s side.
When she was younger, she also helped run the grogercy store in Luray.
Lorraine was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Russell. She helped as a 4-H Leader when her children were growing up. Then after her and Jacob retired, they loved attending Antique sales and collecting antiques.
Surviving family include her son, Gary Anschutz of Galatia, Kansas; daughters, Dianna R. Wise of Seattle, Washington and Rebecca Keil (David) of Russell, Kansas; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Wilmer Trapp and three sisters; Ida Mahoney, Clara Kaps and Julia Urban.
Celebration of Lorraine’s Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, March 8, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at the Bunker Hill Cemetery in Bunker Hill, Kansas. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Wednesday at the Mortuary with the family present to greet friends from 6 PM to 7 PM. Memorials have been established with the St. John Lutheran Church or Russell County Relay For Life. Contributions and condolences may be sent in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
