Peggy Ann Beck, 61 of Russell died Friday, April 20, 2012 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
Peggy was born June 6, 1950 in Salina, Kansas, the daughter of Philip S. and Bette J. (Johannes) Quinley. They lived in Salina until Peggy was five years old when they moved to Great Bend, Kansas. She graduated from Great Bend High School in 1968. She then attended Marymount College.
Peggy was united in marriage to Harold “Bud” Beck, Jr. on July 25, 1975 in Great Bend. This union was blessed with three sons, Nicholas, Christopher and Philip. They made their home in Great Bend until January, 1992 when they moved to Russell, Kansas.
Peggy was the Courthouse Clerk for Barton County for several years. Then in 2000 she became the Russell County District Court Clerk.
Peggy was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church of Russell. She also belonged to the Russell V.F.W. Post #6240 Ladies Auxiliary and the District Court Clerks Association. She loved crocheting, for which she received several awards at the Russell County Free Fair, and loved being a socializer. She never knew a stranger.
Surviving family include her husband of 36 years, Bud of the home; sons, Nicholas Beck and fiancé Tracey Alderson of Lawrence, Kansas and Philip Beck and wife Emily of Davey, Nebraska; brother, Philip Quinley of Carmichael, California; four grandchildren, Jessica, Sullivan, Emily and Quynton; and a great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents and son Chris.
Celebration of Peggy’s Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at the Russell City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Tuesday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, with the family present to greet friends from 6 PM to 7 PM. Memorials have been established with St. John Lutheran Church or the Russell V.F.W. Post #6240 Ladies Auxiliary. Contributions and condolences may be sent in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
