Jacob J. Anschutz, 98 of Russell died Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell, Kansas.

Jacob was born on April 7, 1914 in Germany.  When he was young, he immigrated to Russia and then to the United States.  He went through immigrations’ and became an American citizen.

Jacob served his new country in the U.S. Army?.

Jacob was a farmer and stockman most of his life.  He also helped out at the Dream Theater during the 60’s and 70’s.  He would drive the truck around town that advertised the movie that was playing at the theater.

Jacob was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church.  He also belonged to Farm Bureau.

He leaves many friends behind in the surrounding Russell area.

Celebration of Jacob’s Life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating.  A private burial will follow the services.  Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the mortuary.  A memorial has been established with the Dream Theater of Russell.  Contributions and condolences may be sent in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these funeral arrangements.
