Velma Catherine VonFeldt, 80, of Russell, Kansas, died on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at her home in Russell.

Velma was born on February 14, 1932, in Victoria, Kansas, the daughter of Wendelin and Leona (Schamber) Stang.  She grew up in the Victoria, Kansas, area and attended public schools in Victoria.  She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Roy P. VonFeldt on May 20, 1950 in Victoria.  From this union Velma and Roy were blessed with five children Vickie, Steven, Diane, Alan and Karen.  Roy preceded her in death on September 30, 1994.  The family made their home in Russell, Kansas and when Roy started VonFeldt Oil Inc., Velma became the official bookkeeper and accountant for many years.  She was a member of the St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell.  She was also a member of the St. Mary Alter Society and a life member of the V.F.W. Post 6240 Ladies Auxiliary.  She enjoyed traveling, shopping, polka music, collecting Precious Moments figurines and watching her favorite television shows the Young and the Restless and The Price Is Right.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving family included her daughter Vickie Munday and companion Jack Anspach of Russell, son Steven VonFeldt and wife Mary of Russell, daughter Diane Lindenmuth and husband Darwin of Woodward, Oklahoma and son Alan VonFeldt and wife Carmen of Russell; two brothers Wendy Stang of Hays, Kansas and Elden Stang of Madison, Wisconsin; sisters Delilah Brungardt and Marilyn Braun both of Victoria; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. 

She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter Karen VonFeldt and brother Vernie Stang.

A celebration of the funeral mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, August 3, 2012, at the St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell with Father Charles Steier officiating.  Burial will follow at the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Russell.  Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Thursday, August 2, 2012, at the mortuary.  Memorials may be given to St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell and sent in care of the mortuary.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
