Wilma Lee Weathers, 84, of Russell, Kansas, died on Monday, July 30, 2012, at the Edwards County Hospital in Kinsley, Kansas.
Wilma was born on April 30, 1928, in Russell, Kansas, the daughter of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Deines) Boxberger. She grew up in Russell and attended Russell Public Schools. She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Glenn Weathers on June 23, 1961 in Liberal, Kansas. She worked as a waitress for different establishments in the area. She also worked as a laborer for King of the Road but her number one job was being a homemaker for her family. She was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russell and enjoyed baking, crocheting, gardening and playing the piano. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving family include her husband Glenn of the home, daughter Susie Young and husband Stephen of Hays, Kansas; brother Ardean Boxberger of Russell; sister Lois Rolfsmeyer of Arizona; stepson Randy Glenn Weathers of Newkirk, Oklahoma, stepdaughter Cheri Lynn Dunn of Peckham, Oklahoma; 2 grandchildren Neysa Aiken and Shannan Voorhees and 2 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister O’Leda Dolezal.
There will be no service. Friends may send cards to the residence or Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell who are in charge of the cremation service.
